Seoul Doll Fair

Happy New Year everybody!

It's been a long time :)

Want to start this year by some pictures from Seoul Doll Fair, which was holding at COEX last days.

Nothing about the high brow art, just eye candies.

There was some wierd stuff, aswell. Doll art seems such a dangerous field, which produces really precious pieces, among really kitschy ones. And it's hard to define which sort prevails :)

Art Edition 2011 (12.8-12.11) at SETEC

Picrures from the opening of Art Edition, Seoul.

It's a specialized art fair for phorography, prints, video, sculpture - every kind of art which could have an edition.

 

Russia is presented by Anna Nova Gallery (Saint-Petersburg). They are already second time in Seoul and, hopefully, not the last :) Love the specific Russian feelings of their works.

Directions: Hagyoul st., line 3, exit 1. Walk straight for 2 min. The fair is situated in 3rd Hall of SETEC.

The Court Painters of Jeoson Dynasty at Leeum

Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art is just great in making temporary exhibitions. Each one is brilliant. This time it shows paintings of the Joseon Dynasty royal palace's painters collection called Hwawon. You can see the masterpieces made by order of royal family, which show us historical persons and events; many of non-official painting, such as landscapes, portraits of buddhist immortals, animal paintings and even some erotic paintings are also showed.

As a museum of Samsung company, Leeum uses some kindes of new visual technologies to provide a comfortable opportunity of watching pictures for visitors.

All the fruits of Korean traditional painting are collected on this exhibition, nd if you think that Eastern paintings is something boring, this exhibition will precisely change your opinion.

Directions: Hangang-jin st., line 6, exit 1. Turn to the right on the first crossroad and walk up the hill for 5 min.

Entrance fee: 7,000 won

Eduardo Chillida at Shinsegae Store Gallery

Shinsegae gallery, situated in the main building of Shinsegae Department Store at Myong-dong, shows a solo exhibition of Spanish sculptor Eduardo Chillida. In his works he was discovering the meaning of a space. This exhibition consists his bronze constructions, stone sculptures, drawings and video about artist.

Directions: Myong-dong st., line 4, exit 6. Walk straight 5 min. Gallery is at the 11 floor of Shinsegae Department Store

Karl Lagerfeld's photo exhibiton at Daelim Museum

Exhibition "Karl Lagerfeld. Work in Progress", opened last October in Daelim Contemporary Art Museum, shows maestro's talent in fashion and art photography and, in addition, in short movie making. Fresh, full of sex, fame and luxury, shots also consists an aesthetical feelings of this great multy-creator and one of the most famous desigher of our days.

Directions: Gyonbok-gung st., line 3, exit 4. Walk 5 min. along the Gyonbok palace wall. Museum is on the left.

Entrance fee: 5,000 won. You can also make a memborship card (10,000 won)

Agony and Ecstasy at Song Eun Art Space

Exhibition of selected works from the famous Francois Pinault's Collection is going now at Song Eun Art Space. Works from this collection also has become a hot issue at the Venice Bienalle this year, mostly as an object of critics. But we have to admit that art pieces bought by owner of Cristie's auction house are the most expencive ones this days.
